– Dec. 22, 2009) – Cartus Corporation, the premier provider of global relocation management, recently earned 11 silver Connecticut Quality Improvement Award (CQIA) Innovation Prizes for cost-saving and service-improvement projects. Over the past 13 years, Cartus has collected a total of seven gold and 216 silver awards from CQIA—America’s first state-level quality award to use the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence criteria.
At CQIA’s recent Conference on Quality and Innovation, Cartus received Innovation Prize award plaques in recognition of the accomplishments of 11 separate Cartus teams made up of 73 employees. A sampling of the inventive ideas that these teams developed and implemented included reengineering Value-Added Tax (VAT) calculations via increased accuracy of invoices to enable reclamation of fees by both Cartus and its client companies; replacing a wide variety of printed, collated, mailed paper reports with electronic versions—a cumulative effort that resulted in more than a quarter million dollars’ savings in time, paper, production, and shipping while also reinforcing the company’s "green" objectives; and offering free household goods moves with the purchase of a home from Cartus’ inventory—an incentive valued at between four and five thousand dollars—thereby helping Cartus’ client companies reduce the number of homes carried in their inventories.
"We’re enormously pleased to be on the receiving end of CQIA’s Innovation Prizes once again," said Kevin Kelleher, Cartus president and CEO. "These awards reaffirm Cartus as an innovative leader and recognize our work in continuing to develop processes that not only help us help our clients but also enable Cartus to do its part to protect the environment."
"For the past 15 years, CQIA prizes have been presented to Connecticut organizations that, like Cartus, have used innovation to create new opportunities or solve existing problems," said Sheila Carmine, founder and executive director of the CQIA Partnership. "It is inspiring to see how many organizations, large and small, are driven by innovation to set new standards of excellence."
