Pre-Assignment Visit/Orientation Tour
An orientation visit prior to a new assignment is an efficient and cost-effective way to ensure an assignee’s family is prepared for and reconciled with a move.

The orientation service is designed to provide information about daily life in the host country, with emphasis on one or more key areas to compare and contrast types of accommodation available, value for money and local facilities.

The tour is arranged and conducted by a specialist Area Consultant to include features relevant to the personal interests and concerns of the assignee and family. Area orientation, often scheduled to coincide with pre-assignment business trips, is offered as a stand-alone service, or together with a home search package, to provide an overview of neighborhoods prior to targeted home selection.

In the case of group moves, information days can be delivered in the country of departure and support a client’s recruitment efforts.

Arrival Assistance
To reduce the stress of arrival in an unfamiliar location, we can arrange for the assignee and family to be met at the airport when they arrive in the host country for their pre-trip and/or final move.

The local destination services manager or representative will accompany the family to their hotel, temporary accomodation or new home and provide an overview of the area, beginning the acclimatization process.

Temporary Housing Assistance
We will provide hands-on assistance in arranging temporary housing in the home and/or host location consistent with your temporary housing policy guidelines.

Cartus has negotiated competitive rates with a variety of serviced accommodation providers in optimal locations. We have carefully vetted, and continue to monitor, each serviced apartment facility to ensure exceptional standards of accommodation and service are maintained.

We aim to provide a varied range of flexible temporary accommodation solutions, tailoring this service to meet clients’ individual requirements for coordinating bookings, arranging transport (such as airport collections) and negotiating, extending and terminating leases.

Service options include:

• Pre-selected accommodation: Designated facilities selected, and rates negotiated, in advance based on full consultation with the client. This may include establishing budget “tiers” for assignees, dependent upon client-determined variables. Following client instruction, we undertake all bookings on behalf of assignees and coordinate the assignee’s arrival.



• Custom accommodation sourcing: Supported by one key point of contact, we guide and assist assignees in selecting and securing an accommodation within client parameters. An accommodation brief is set with the assignee and market research is conducted. Following an accompanied tour, the selected accommodation is secured, negotiating terms which offer both security and flexibility. This service is particularly beneficial for assignee families likely to require temporary accommodation for several months, or for senior assignees who may select serviced accommodation as a long-term option.

Home Search Programs
From junior staff to VIPs, the range of home search services assist the assignee’s family in establishing a new home, quickly and confidently, within the host country.

By minimizing the stresses and concerns relating to an international move, and supporting the family in adapting to their new environment from the outset, the chances of a successful assignment are increased and the assignee is able to focus on his or her professional demands as quickly as possible. The programs include familiarization with the host country, explanation of local market issues, effective management of expectations, and the creation of informed solutions to accommodate each assignee’s wishes, within client-led parameters. Supported by one key point of contact, this service supports international assignees in efficiently selecting and securing a home.

Following an accompanied tour, the assignee’s selected property is secured, negotiating terms which offer security and flexibility for both client and transferee. We take painstaking steps to protect against likely inconvenience or cost for the duration of the tenancy. Personal settling-in support completes the service.

Settling In Services/Host Country Formalities
We will assist in completing host country registrations, obtaining necessary documents and permits, driver’s licenses, driving lessons, opening bank accounts, and obtaining utility and telephone services, along with other ancillary local services.

We will familiarize the assignee and family with the community, local social and recreational facilities, health care services, and other places of interest to the assignee.

Web-Based Destination Services
Especially effective for short-term assignees, we will arrange for a Web-based service that provides city-specific destination information so assignees can log on and get up-to-date, practical information on their new assignment location.
