Golden Week in China: What Relocating Employees Should Know

Posted by: Candy Lu, Client Services Manager, China
In the coming week, China marks an important annual public holiday which may impact your assignees’ travel and relocation plans. China is celebrating its National Day on Monday 1 October. The public holiday period around National Day, commonly known as “Golden Week” is from 1-7 October. Along with the Spring Holiday Festival, it is one of the longest holidays in China and it is normally a time when families go on holiday or travel home.
Assignees relocating to China at this time should be aware that:
- There may be resulting delays in household good shipments
- Visa/immigration paperwork may take longer over this period
- Home search/look see visits may be interrupted
- School closures may affect school visit trips
Should you or your assignees have any questions regarding relocation to China during this period, please contact your Cartus representative.
