Keeping up to date with cost of living trends for expats moving to Singapore is an ongoing challenge. If you relocate expats to Singapore, our latest Market Watch gives details on current schooling, housing and immigration issues.
Expat Housing Update
While rental volumes have increased, so too has supply which has led to more competition amongst landlords. Further units are due for completion in early 2018 meaning that choice is more readily available, especially in “en-bloc” sites.
Expat Schooling
There are now new International Schools in Singapore that cater for the demand from expatriates looking for cheaper schooling options. The fees at Middleton International School are highly competitive and One World International School (OWIS) is opening a further campus in January 2018.
Immigration Changes
Effective from 1 January 2018 there are changes to the dependent privileges for work pass holders, and a new electronic system for permanent residency applications, accompanied by a new fee structure, became effective from 18 December.
