spotlight on mobility: human skills, responsible AI, and the return to the office

Recently, I had the privilege of speaking at virtual RMC C-Suite Panel sessionhosted by the HR Mobility Peer Group, where I shared key trends shaping the world of relocation and global mobility. At Cartus, we’re always looking ahead, so here are some of the perspectives I shared with the group.

punching up human power: AI shows our best side

AI is everywhere these days, especially in mobility, but the 2026 World Economic Forum in Switzerland last month proved there’s more to the story. As machines get smarter, human-centric skills like creativity, empathy, and judgment, shine even brighter. In our industry, these traits aren’t just nice-to-haves; they’re what set us apart. AI may crunch the numbers, but it’s people who make the difference, and Cartus has always championed the human touch.

green machines: using AI responsibly for sustainability

“How are you using AI?” is being replaced with “How are you using AI responsibly?” More suppliers, including us, are being asked to show not just innovation, but integrity, especially when it comes to the environment. That’s why we’re heavily investing in our sustainability initiatives, such as becoming the first major global talent mobility company with SBTi-validated net-zero targets. It’s also why Andy Conduit-Turner, Director, Sustainable Growth Enablement, headed to EcoVadis Sustain 2026 in Paris this week to discuss sustainability and ethical tech use. Expect this to be a hot topic and one Cartus is ready to tackle head-on.

back to the buzz: return-to-office and relocation on the rise

Return-to-office mandates are sweeping through US companies and changing the game for global mobility. While some see downsizing, we see opportunity: moving back to the office means a return to relocation activity, from DIY moves to full support packages (and everything in between). After the slow-down post-pandemic, these policies are reigniting the pulse of our industry, which is great news for those ready to embrace change.

At Cartus, we’re not just keeping pace with trends; we’re driving them. Whether you’re navigating AI, sustainability, or new work models, consider us your trusted partner for every step in your relocation journey.
